Dr Irena Eris Women's Sailing Championship of Poland 2024

Our regatta team Vega Cleo Sailing Team performed in the Polish Women's Sailing Championship in the RS21 class, which took place in Sopot on June 15-16, 2024. We completed the launch project in 2 weeks - that's how long it took from the idea to the start. Already for this we deserve a doctorate in organization and management.

One very short training session the day before the regatta was enough only or as much as to take second place in the amateur classification. Strong gusty winds and a rippled body of water during Saturday's races verified the skills of the competitors, including ours. An undeniable success is the fact that we left behind the stern of teams from well-known clubs with a 100-year tradition and teams that race large racing yachts every day. The result, therefore, was better than we expected.

Satisfaction is added to the fact that we were able to demonstrate our capabilities in this demanding sport and achieve a second place on the podium.

Thank you to all who cheered us on!

Feel free to come aboard

Cleo is a slender wooden vega yacht. The unit was built in Szczecin in 1963. In total, only 39 yachts of this type were built. For their time, these were technologically advanced boats, of which Polish boatbuilding thought did not have to be ashamed against the background of the most recognized yacht manufacturers in the world.

These vessels aroused admiration in all the marinas where they appeared. To the present day, about 10 are sailing around the world. Cleo is one of 16 veg built in Szczecin for export. In emigration, she was fortunate enough to end up in good hands, and for more than half a century, well cared for, she sailed salty and fresh waters. She recently returned to the motherland, to the city where she was built. She has a chance to sail for many more years, but her restoration requires considerable resources.

I don't want to keep it just for myself, because that would be strange and selfish from my point of view. For me, a yacht is alive when people sail on it, I would like to invite as many people on board as possible.
